7th July 2015 - Members of the branch attended a memorial service in Clumber Park in remembrance of LCpl Thomas Merrills and Pte John Read, who both died whilst serving with the Sherwood Foresters during WW1. Both were gardeners at Clumber Park and it was the staff there who arranged the service. Two of the ‘Tower of London 100th anniversary of WW1 ceramic poppies’ were purchased by the staff and are held in a permanent memorial to the two fallen soldiers.
